Fine Art Masterpiece Photography - Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico
High ancient sea ledges, deep rocky canyons, flowering cactus and desert wildlife treasures are found above the ground in the Chihuahuan Desert. Hidden beneath the surface are more than 119 caves all formed when sulfuric acid dissolved the surrounding limestone leaving behind caverns of all sizes. Interestingly, enough, these formations found inside the Carlsbad Caverns today were active and growing during the ice age when instead of having a desert above the caves, there were pine forests. DIck and Dennis have showcased the magnificent formations found in these caverns in their National Park Galleries.
